Video Signal Disappering
I have an odd bug that occurs only in certain GWars zones. In one of these zones, at some random time/place, my video card will stop sending any signal at all to my monitor (picture disappears and monitor goes into standbye mode). The game hasn't crashed, I can hear it continuing to play over my speakers. No amount of alt-tabbing or anything else will restore my video signal, so I end up having to unplug my computer so as to be able to restart it (love Dell's power switch, never known of a power switch where pushing it wouldn't turn off the damn machine, but I digress).
There are several zones that do this ( ), an example of two are Thirsty River and the mission that has Glint in it. This -never- happens except in one of these problem zones, and then it happens randomly. I managed to finish Thirsty River finally because the bug simply didn't kick in before I finished. But I'll never be able to get to Glint if I can't get this fixed, that mission just takes too long.
My system: P4-2.4, 512 meg ram, GeForce Ti-4200 64 meg video card. This problem occurred with the previous NVidia drivers and still occurs with the current 77.77 drivers. It's not a heat issue, it's zone specific, and my system runs cool anyway. My card is not overclocked. The default settings for my video card are (for GWars) set very generic (i.e. it's set to allow the application to decide).
My Gwars graphics settings: full screen 1024x768, default refresh, normal interface size, no anti-aliasing, visual quality set to 2/3rds max, terrain at high, reflections at default, texture quality at high, shadows at medium. Post processing effects are enabled.
This is currently the only problem GWars has for me, in every other way it's rock solid. But this is a nasty problem that has kept me out of several zones and I'd very much like to have it fixed. Anyone have a clue what is going on here?
